Gather 'round m'babies and I'll tell you a tale...
Hello, and thanks for visiting. Let my introduce myself: I am a 21-year old female art history major at the University of Manitoba who will possibly graduate in the fall if I can decide whether I would like to major in Chinese art, curatorial studies, pursue a studio degree, or just continue my day job modeling naughty underthings ;). Well, sadly, I do not model naughty underthings, but I do manage to fill my time with other *debatably* equally amusing things such as painting, creating soft sculpture, playing piano, and spending time with my loved ones. When I get around to it, I plan on posting some images of the fruits of my artistic labour on here - my work is greatly inspired by Japanese pop culture, and is just really...well...kawaii, I suppose you could say. I am also an avid writer - I enjoy writing art reviews as well as more scholarly art-related scribblings, and if I get a chance, at some point, I will post those as well. I will only post the positive reviews, though (even though the negative are the most fun and interesting), because I have come to realize that it is just easier to be 'nice' when it comes to publicly assessing an artist's work. If I don't like a particular piece, I have learned that, rather than to say it "looks like ass" or "is burning my eyes", it is much more...lovely just to say something like "I really like the colours" or "it reminds me of John Artist's work". Currently, I have the sweetest job in the world. If you take the sweetest possible thing you can think of and multiply it by a crazy big number, it still won't be as sweet as my sweet job. I work at a contemporary gallery in the Exchange District (a sexy area in downtown Winnipeg consisting of around 150 sexy heritage buildings). Lately I have been stressing a wee bit about finding another part-time job to earn some extra cash, because I have a cell phone bill and a credit card bill that have been neglected for around a month. I also have 2 papers due tomorrow (which I have had a month to do, by the way) which aren't finished yet and I have plans to go out tonight with this guy I'm seeing who I reeeallly like so that's also a bit stressful. Plus, a witch told my mom today that her eldest daughter (me) is going to become pregnant in the near future - I kid, you not - this actually happened. I have a lot on my mind. I just want to eat chips. h
